Marion County confirms committee appointments, proclaims weeks recognizing corrections staff and police

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on May 8 approved several appointments to advisory committees and adopted two proclamations recognizing corrections and police staff.
Appointments approved on the consent agenda included Keith Bondaug-Winn as chair and April Murazzo as vice chair of the Solid Waste Management Advisory Council with terms ending May 21, 2020. In formal action later in the meeting the board appointed Cleo Freauf to the Local Alcohol and Drug Planning Committee with a term ending Jan. 31, 2021 and re-appointed Dan Mullen (Assistant Chief, St. Paul Fire District) and Scott Shepherd (Assistant Chief, Jefferson Fire District) to the Ambulance Service Area Advisory Committee with terms ending Jan. 31, 2022.
Sheriff Jason Myers and commanders Tad Larson and Joe Kast presented a proclamation declaring May 5–11, 2019 as Corrections Professionals and Nurses Appreciation Week; presenters highlighted high jail-processing volumes and staff efforts to connect individuals to treatment services. The board then approved a proclamation designating May 12–18, 2019 as Police Recognition Week; the commissioners read both proclamations aloud before adjourning at 9:47 a.m.
Each appointment and proclamation was adopted by unanimous voice vote; no dissenting comments or recorded amendments were made during the session.
