At its June 25 meeting the Bardstown City Council approved a set of routine actions including Ordinance B2024-07 (FY24 budget amendment), acceptance of a salt bid, three HRB Certificates of Appropriateness with conditions, the Tourist Commission FY25 budget, a fireworks permit for Kaboom Fireworks and a cemetery deed.
The Bardstown City Council approved several motions and ordinances by unanimous votes during its June 25 meeting.
Ordinance B2024-07 (FY24 budget amendment) was adopted after City Attorney Audrey Haydon read a summary of adjustments across multiple funds, including increases and decreases in anticipated revenues and expenditures for the General Fund, Combined Utilities Fund, Municipal Road Aid Fund, Lagoon Cleaning Fund, Sewer Enhancement Fund and Asset Forfeiture Fund. Councilwoman Betty Hart moved to adopt the amendment; Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV seconded. The roll call vote was recorded AYE for all six council members.
The council accepted a bid from Compass Minerals America, Inc. for bulk salt at $103.00 per ton for up to 300 tons; Councilman Roland E. Williams moved the bid acceptance, Councilman Bill Sheckles seconded, and the motion carried 6-0.
The council accepted three recommendations from the Historic Review Board (HRB): COA-24-17 (Brenda Hagan) — approval to remove multiple trees at 403 N. 3rd Street except trees the HRB highlighted to be retained; COA-24-20 (Dennis Potter) — approval for a rear cedar privacy fence at 111 S. 5th Street; and COA-24-22 (William Parrish) — approval for signage at 111 N. 3rd Street with conditions limiting the sign to 40 inches in diameter and requiring a more subdued red than originally proposed. Councilman Joe Buckman moved to accept the HRB recommendations with conditions; Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
The Bardstown-Nelson County Tourist Commission FY25 budget was presented by Stacey Phelps and approved on a 6-0 vote after a motion by Councilman Franklin Hibbs IV and a second from Councilwoman Betty Hart.
The council approved a fireworks permit application submitted by Kaboom Fireworks on a 6-0 vote (motion by Councilman Joe Buckman, seconded by Councilman David Dones).
The cemetery deed for Carolyn Hughes was approved by unanimous consent.
