American Legion Auxiliary details Wreaths Across America plans, local donations

Carla Lee, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit, thanked the council for its support and outlined the group’s work and upcoming Wreaths Across America activities. She said the unit distributed hundreds of homemade cookies to veteran homes, sponsored Girl State participants, and participated in community outreach throughout the year.
Lee told the council the local Wreaths Across America program will place about 300 wreaths at the local cemetery with a program at 10 a.m. that will include guest speaker Mike Collie and taps performed by Bob Moley. The auxiliary requested town assistance for wreath pickup and suggested that the collected greenery could be recycled through the town’s greens department.
Betty White and other auxiliary members described donations the unit is making this year: $500 each to the Cheyenne Veterans Home and the Sheridan Veterans Home, $10 gift cards for 58 residents in Buffalo, and $50 Walmart gift cards for about 20 homeless veterans in Casper. The auxiliary invited volunteers and school groups to participate in the wreath-laying and youth education aspects of the event.
