Clawson council adopts county pre-disaster mitigation plan

The Clawson Town Council voted to adopt the county's pre-disaster mitigation plan, bringing the town into the county's regional mitigation framework required by state law. Chair (S1) explained the town received the plan from county staff and that the document is treated as a living plan updated through the county process.

Committee member S6 moved that Clawson adopt the county's pre-disaster mitigation plan and "join their agenda," and a second was recorded. The chair called the question and the motion was approved by voice vote; at least one dissenting "no" was audible during the vote.

Council members said the county typically prepares the plan and offers cities the option to adopt the county's text, and that the document includes considerations such as natural-resource concerns and outreach to special service districts. One councilor noted the town could request a printed copy for review before future actions.

The adoption places Clawson under the county's mitigation planning process, which council members described as a recurring annual agenda item that is updated as conditions change. The council did not specify local amendments to the county text at the meeting.
