Parent urges clearer homeschool language; board tables extracurricular policy for revision

"I would encourage you to put some sort of edit in there about the board has the ultimate authority over curriculum because that's what the state statute has made," Ramber said.
Ramber specifically referenced policy IGDJ (extracurriculars) and suggested language be added so homeschool students' participation is clear and consistent with Wyoming High School Activities Association rules and the district's LBD-R3 enrollment practices. A board member responded that the WHSAA reference exists in the policy's last sentence and recommended tabling IGDJ to make the language explicit. The board moved, seconded and carried a motion to table IGDJ for revision; other policies on the second-reading docket were approved.
Board members said the matter would be addressed in an upcoming work session where staff and trustees will consider language additions to reflect current practice for middle- and high-school homeschool participation and to confirm curriculum-authority language across relevant policies.
