Board hears facilities progress: stadium work, sewer lining and new kitchen equipment planned

Facilities and grounds staff told the board several summer projects are underway or planned. Old lockers were removed after an asbestos statement and staff plan to install a new suspended ceiling and updated lighting in that classroom. Workers have started stadium earthmoving; soil removal was expected to finish this week with new drainage fill to be brought in next week.
Staff said the concession‑stand building has wall repairs and rafters scheduled and that sewer‑pipe work includes additional water‑jetting and a proposed future lining of the pipes as a longer‑term (30‑year) solution, likely to take place late July or early August. The northwest gym window replacement is also scheduled for late July to early August.
Facilities staff described plans to purchase a new freezer and cooler for the food‑service operation to replace aging equipment and expand storage capacity. The superintendent noted surplus picnic tables and field lights were listed on Purple Wave for auction; at the time of the meeting the field lights had a bid of about $120 and a lot of eight picnic tables had a bid around $750.
A board member raised that an exposed section of foam on the custodial shed’s south wall needs to be covered; facilities staff agreed it should be finished.
No binding procurement decisions were made at the meeting; staff will continue work and bring procurement items back as required.
