Brookline Selectboard shifts direct assistance funds and hears HR wage-study overview

Brookline Selectboard members on Dec. 18 decided to draw from the town’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund for any remaining direct assistance needs for the year after officials reported the Welfare line was over budget.
Selectboard Chair Eddie Arnold told members that, aside from Legal, most budget lines were where expected for 2023 year-to-date spending. The board agreed to use the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund for further direct assistance requests to avoid further overspending the Welfare account.
The board also received a briefing from MRI consultant Carol, who provided an overview of the HR project and described the process MRI used to evaluate wages for current Brookline job positions. No specific salary adjustments or dollar figures were provided in the meeting segment.
In Old/New Business, the board approved a personnel item: Brendan Denehy moved, seconded by Ed Perry, to allow Kyle Smith to roll over vacation time into 2024; the motion passed 5-0.
At 9:01 p.m. the Selectboard entered non-public session under RSA 91-A:3 II (c) (reputation) and (l) (legal). The board returned at 10:26 p.m., voted to seal the nonpublic minutes and adjourned at 10:26 p.m.
