The Brookline Selectboard voted unanimously on Dec. 18 to accept Accura Construction’s $919,593.25 bid to finish Hood Road and to place the funding article before voters at the 2024 town meeting.
Selectboard Chair Eddie Arnold reviewed three bids received: R.A. Powell at $860,768.06, Accura Construction at $919,593.25 and an estimated $1,068,525 from Continental Paving. Arnold said the town has used Accura before and recommended moving forward with Accura while setting a town-meeting 'do not exceed' authorization of $1.25 million.
Brendan Denehy urged the board could delay the project and rebid next fall, but the board proceeded with a motion to accept Accura’s bid. Denehy moved the motion, Ed Perry seconded it, and the board voted 5-0 in favor of accepting the Accura bid and forwarding the warrant article to town meeting.
The motion recorded in the minutes reads: “Accept the bid from Accura Construction in the amount of $919,593.25 to finish Hood Road, pending a positive vote at town meeting 2024.” The board’s approval sends the matter to voters for final authorization.
