PennDOT lane shift on Route 422 starts Sept. 25; South Pleasantview Road bridge contract awarded

Township Manager Edward C. Wagner told the Lower Pottsgrove Board on Sept. 19 that a lane shift for the Route 422 M1B Project will begin Sept. 25 at 9:00 a.m., with overnight paving planned Sunday through Tuesday. "The lanes will be eleven (11) feet wide, and the project will take approximately one (1) year," Wagner said.
Wagner and other township officials attended a PennDOT meeting where PennDOT announced a $2.4 million contract award to the H & K Group for the South Pleasantview Road Bridge. The new structure will increase in length from approximately 50 feet to 58 feet and widen from about 23 feet to 30 feet. Officials said the road will be closed beginning on or after June 9, 2025, to allow for bridge work; once the westbound portion of the Route 422 project is complete, further work will continue.
The board did not take separate votes on the PennDOT contract; Wagner reported the DOT award and the expected schedule. The report gave residents an early warning about lane changes, overnight paving, and a future bridge closure that could affect local travel patterns for roughly a year.
The township will receive additional updates as PennDOT and the contractor finalize phasing and traffic control plans.
