Board members also discussed Highway plans to pursue grants for a new salt barn. Highway Clerk Janette Mulrooney will consult with a contact from the Town of Chenango who previously applied for similar grants to help with the application.
Because the Highway’s Kubota sweeper attachment repeatedly failed and parts were frequently backordered, Superintendent Ritter ordered a universal replacement sweeper at a cost of $4,800 to maintain operations; the purchase was treated as an unplanned but necessary expense.
The Board discussed operational details: the excavator includes a 24" digging bucket, a 60" hydraulic tilt ditch bucket and a hydraulic thumb, and the town logo was affixed on delivery. No appropriation increase was noted; the purchase was reported as budgeted for 2026 and the Board approved transferring funds when the bill is due.
The Board also briefly discussed a Delaware River Solar inquiry about siting a battery‑storage unit on the Town landfill; members noted battery storage is not a currently allowed use under Town law and indicated they were not interested in placing a battery‑storage facility at the landfill.
