Proposed language included removal for three unexcused absences; council members debated whether the rule should be three consecutive misses or three misses annually and whether to define 'unexcused.'
Council moved and adopted an amendment to specify the language as “missing three meetings annually without an approved excuse.” After the amendment passed on roll call, the council approved the charter changes as amended. Council members noted a preference for third‑Thursday meetings when the commission does meet, but staff said the charter leaves meeting dates flexible.
The resolution was adopted after a roll call vote. Staff said the change will be reflected in the commission’s charter and that staff will communicate the new expectations to commission members.
