Council weighs modular emergency units, timelines and site options for police and fire

Staff said timing is the limiting factor: installation, utility hookups and related permitting mean a realistic window to have units in place could be three to four months if everything aligns.
Council members discussed parking impacts and operational plans, including temporarily using station two for parking and whether a modular could serve as a long‑term substation. Council asked staff to inspect candidate locations (including a vacant lot owned by a local church), coordinate with Duke Energy on electrical service and return feasibility findings at the next meeting.
