Bountiful — The Bountiful City Council authorized engineering services with Methods Consulting for the Davis Boulevard Bridge rehabilitation project at its June 9 meeting.
Public Works staff described the bridge as about 50 years old with concrete spalling, rebar corrosion and drainage problems that require deck sealing and other structural repairs. Lloyd Cheney presented two proposals and recommended Methods Consulting based on qualifications and cost; the council approved the selection by unanimous vote.
The budget includes $350,000 in current-year capital for Davis Boulevard work; staff said part of the engineering fee will be charged to the current year and the remainder in FY2027 as design and phasing proceed. Council members asked staff to evaluate modest sidewalk widening and pedestrian accommodations during design; staff said feasibility will be evaluated alongside structural repairs and that some elements may require additional funding.
Council also discussed the bridge’s license with the Bureau of Reclamation — the city holds a 50‑year license that is due for renewal — and staff said they will pursue necessary coordination and permit work as part of the design phase.
The motion to accept Methods Consulting’s proposal passed unanimously.
