South Davis Metro names Jeff Larson as fire chief; stresses succession and training

Bountiful — The Bountiful City Council formally introduced Jeff Larson as the new South Davis Metro Fire chief during its June 9 meeting.
Mayor introduced Larson, noting he is a Bountiful High School graduate with a multi‑decade career that has included EMT, paramedic and various fire department assignments. Larson told the council he sees his role focused on career development, succession planning and sustaining operational readiness across the combined South Davis organization, which he said has about 100 sworn firefighters and roughly 15 civilian staff.
Larson said the organization last year responded to nearly 7,500 calls and that the next phase of leadership work includes ensuring development pathways and succession for key technical roles. He thanked the mayor, council and staff for the appointment and said he looked forward to upcoming public badge ceremonies and community engagement.
Council members offered congratulations; no substantive policy questions followed the introduction.
