Fort Edward board approves bills, dog-control pact and property letters; schedules paving and Safety Days

The Fort Edward Town Board on June 8 approved routine town business, entered into an intermunicipal dog-control agreement, and directed staff to send property-maintenance letters to two addresses.
The board approved the minutes of the May 11 meeting and accepted monthly reports from the Town Clerk, Town Justice, Building Inspector, Dog Control and the Supervisor. Councilwoman Mullen moved to approve the reports, and Councilwoman Collier seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board approved Abstract #6 totaling $63,644.30. The abstract included General A claims (14231–14273) totaling $23,873.41; General B (14274–14276) $824.22; Highway (14277–14289) $23,006.30; Municipal (14290–14294) $11,081.00; Special Lighting (14295) $3,309.77; Special Water (14296–14304) $1,974.92; and Special Water 2 (14305–14306) $80.00.
Councilman Suprenant moved, and Councilwoman Collier seconded, to enter into an Intermunicipal Agreement providing cooperative dog-control services with neighboring towns; the motion passed unanimously.
On code-enforcement matters, Councilman Middleton reported the Code Enforcement Officer has not received a reply from the owner of 590 Lower Oak St. He also said the old Wesleyan Church on State Route 4 appears to have been converted into three apartments without ZBA approval or building permits. Town Attorney Bill Nikas advised the Code Enforcement Officer may issue a cease-and-desist order for unauthorized apartments; to pursue the 590 Lower Oak property in court, the Code Enforcement Officer should forward a formal complaint to the town attorney. The board authorized letters to be sent to 590 Lower Oak St. and 915 County Rte. 46 for property-maintenance violations.
Highway announcements from Brian Brockway noted blacktopping planned next week on Glen Hill (Co. Rte. 46–Rte. 4), Patterson Rd. (Co. Rte. 46–Dump Rd.), Woodard Rd. (Cary Rd. to the bridge) and Williams Rd. (Co. Rte. 46 to the Brockway residence). Brockway also said the town pool had been painted and that Safety Days would be held Tuesday and Wednesday at the fairgrounds.
