Kanab City Council voted May 12 to adopt Ordinance 5-1-26 O, approving a partial vacation of public street easements adjacent to Parcel K-B-12-9 (roughly 250 East) at the request of the project petitioner.
Land Use Coordinator Janae Chatterley explained that Iron Rock Engineering petitioned to partially vacate the easements so a property boundary could be adjusted to align with an existing sidewalk. The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the proposed plat and staff report #PLAN26-032 provided findings and conditions for the council's consideration.
Councilmember Heaton recused himself from the agenda item because of his professional work with Iron Rock Engineering. Councilmember Corry moved to adopt the ordinance and Councilmember Chamberlain seconded. The motion passed: Councilmember Shrope, Councilmember Corry, Councilmember Banks and Councilmember Chamberlain voted yes; Councilmember Heaton was recused and did not vote.
The ordinance authorizes the partial vacation of the public street easements identified on the proposed plat map for 250 East subject to the findings and conditions in the staff report. No public comments were recorded on the item during the hearing.
