Commissioners approve transit grant application, amend Wauneta EMS utilities agreement and review zoning plan

Chase County Commissioners took several administrative and planning actions at their May 26 meeting in Imperial.
At 9:00 a.m. the commissioners opened a public hearing on the purchase of two lowered-floor mini vans with ramps for Chase County Transit; no members of the public commented and the hearing closed at 9:10 a.m. Commissioner Billie Muehlenkamp moved to approve Resolution 2026-7 directing Chase County Transit Service to apply for federal funds to purchase the vehicles; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Jacci Brown and approved unanimously.
The board also designated the State Print Shop to produce pink postcards if needed for joint public hearings and approved an amended interlocal agreement with the Village of Wauneta concerning the Wauneta EMS Building. The amendment specifies that the Village will pay necessary utilities, including electricity and propane, and that if county improvements increase electricity consumption the parties will negotiate rates for additional use.
Commissioners discussed purchasing a pull-type scraper for the road department and agreed to gather informal bids for consideration at a future meeting; no procurement was authorized at this session.
Zoning Administrator Chris Mulder reviewed the Planning Commission–approved revisions to the Chase County Comprehensive Plan — 2035 and proposed zoning regulations. The board offered suggested modifications; Mulder will take those suggestions back to the Planning Commission for further action.
With no further business, Chairman Kurt Bernhardt adjourned the meeting at 10:00 a.m.
