Resident asks council to allow owner-occupied short-term rentals to help older homeowners

Keroselli said owner-occupied short-term rentals would let older homeowners supplement income while reducing neighborhood problems because the owner would be present to address issues. “I want to talk about owner occupied residents being able to take advantage of short-term rentals in the city ... I believe that that oversight would make a difference in the residential area,” she said.
Keroselli acknowledged neighborhood concerns about short-term rentals and said an owner-occupied exemption would be a limited change to help residents cope with rising costs. The council reminded speakers that the public-comment period is not a Q&A session.
The council did not take action on the proposal during the meeting; residents seeking changes to ordinance language were directed to consult planning staff for clarification and next steps.
