Council debate fails to gain second for rescinding city-hall generator purchase

Stratton told the council he solicited a proposal from Independent Electric that quoted $94,800 installed for a GenerRack unit (including a transfer switch). He compared that figure to the co-op/Corvvis price previously authorized by council and said the difference was approximately $34,151.96 (Stratton also presented an alternate quote of $81,600 if only a switch swap is required).
Stratton argued the city should seek at least three bids before spending between roughly $120,000 and $128,000 and raised concerns about parts availability for the proposed generator model. He moved to rescind the prior authorization and ask staff to solicit three bids; the motion failed when no council member seconded it.
Because the rescind motion failed, council took no further action on the generator purchase on Monday and left the item pending for future consideration.
