At the April 9 Kanarraville Town Board meeting, local photographer Aaron Gutierrez used the public forum to ask permission to photograph the interior of the fire station to complete a town documentation project and suggested forming a volunteer Kanarraville Arts Council to support local art projects and student activities.
"I'm Aaron Gutierrez. I'm a photographer here in town... basically adding all the photos into the public record at the library," he said during public comment, and asked whether the board would allow access to take interior shots of the fire station. He also proposed fundraising and partnering with high-school students for murals and other public works.
Board members responded that the idea could be placed on the next agenda for formal consideration and that building use would be scheduled through the town if volunteers wanted to use town-owned space. Committee members clarified that a volunteer arts council could operate without creating a town budget obligation, but the board would want to approve any activity that publicly represented the town.
The board did not take formal action at the meeting; staff planned to add the arts-council proposal to the next meeting agenda so members could outline logistics, budget implications and use of town facilities.
