Commission tables BHASD woodshop and greenhouse plan as district seeks SALDO waivers

Representatives for the Brandywine Heights Area School District presented a land development plan March 4 to add a 1,350-square-foot woodshop and an 864-square-foot prefab greenhouse to support a proposed agriculture program. The Commission reviewed the Hanover Engineering Associates review (Feb. 26, 2025) and the district’s request for waivers, specifically citing SALDO Section 302.C to allow treatment of the submittal as Preliminary/Final and Section 402.D (including subsections named in HEA’s letter) to waive an existing resource and site analysis for features within 200 feet of the tract. The minutes record that the analysis had been performed when the school was initially approved and that the current plan is within the already-approved building area.
After discussion, the Commission tabled the plan. No approval votes or conditions were recorded in the minutes during this meeting; commissioners will consider the waivers and engineering comments at a future session.
Next steps: the applicants will await the Commission’s further review of waivers and HEA comments before the Planning Commission forwards a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors.
