Board authorizes bid for Garrison Landing water meters; residents ask about financial plan

The Town Board authorized the town clerk on June 10 to put out to bid the purchase and installation of water meters for the Garrison Landing Water District.
Officials said meters are needed because many original meters failed after the system conversion in 1999 and that funds are now secured to replace them. "So this is a bid process for a firm to bid on purchasing the meters and installing the meters," an official said, noting that after meters are installed the town will work with residents to set a per‑gallon rate based on system operational costs.
Garrison resident Jerry Singer asked whether the town had filed the financial plan with the Office of the State Comptroller required for the district’s audit and financial restructuring. Town staff responded the financial plan remains in progress and that the meter project is a key part of the plan to bring revenue flow into the district.
The board approved the bid authorization by voice vote. Staff said they will return to the board to finalize rates once the operational costs are calculated and the procurement is complete.
