Mrs. Tabelski recommended rejecting all tilt trailer bids because the original specs limited bidders’ geographic radius and requested a more open procurement process.
Finance staff proposed transferring Water Fund capital improvement reserves to cover debt service obligations. Chief Camp requested approval for an agreement to provide police services at seven Friday summer concerts at Batavia Downs; officers would be billed at their actual rates to offset costs. The City intends to reapply for a Pearl Street water CDBG grant seeking $1 million; Mrs. Tabelski said the earlier application was not approved and staff discussed steps to improve the application. The City scheduled a public hearing on that grant application to occur at the business meeting following the conference.
The council also agreed to move forward requests for a temporary loan of the Town of Batavia’s fire engine for about two weeks while a City engine is serviced, an intent to apply for New York Plays funding to upgrade Williams Park (with discretion over inclusive playground equipment), another LE Tech grant application to update police technology, and awards for tree‑planting and maintenance to the lowest bidders as recommended by Scott Allen.
