Farragut board adopts flood-map updates tied to FEMA LOMARs

The Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen on June 11 adopted Ordinance 26-09 on second and final reading to update the town’s Flood Damage Prevention Regulations to reference two revised FEMA community panel numbers (0243G and 0244G), effective Feb. 10, 2026.
Mark Shipley explained that Letters of Map Revision (LOMARs) result from detailed hydrologic and engineering studies submitted to FEMA that can take years and produce more accurate flood maps reflecting recent development and watershed changes. "They're very detailed processes that hydrologic engineers do ... and then they submit that to FEMA," Shipley said, describing the LOMAR process and noting the town’s role is to acknowledge the updated panels.
During questioning, a council member asked how many acres of flood area changed; Shipley said he did not have the acreage figure available. With discussion closed, the board voted 4–0 by roll call to adopt the ordinance: Alderman Lacroy — yes; Vice Mayor Meyer — yes; Alderman Bernett — yes; Mayor Williams — yes.
What happens next: the town’s code will reference the updated panel numbers; any property owners affected by map changes will be subject to the updated floodplain regulations and applicable permitting requirements.
