Little Falls council adopts short-term rental, street, peddling and administration code changes and approves consent resolutions

Ordinances adopted included: Ordinance 1541, which adds chapter 203 to the township code addressing short-term rentals; Ordinance 1544, which amends chapter 7 on street regulations; Ordinance 1545, amending chapter 151 on peddling and soliciting; and Ordinance 1546, which updates chapter 3 on the administration of government. The clerk opened and closed the public hearings on each ordinance with no members of the public speaking before each was put to a roll-call vote and recorded as adopted.
On the consent calendar (resolutions A–H), the council approved a $3,500 tax-refund resolution; renewed group dental benefits with Delta Dental; appointed Jack Marion to a four-year term as township tax assessor; approved a downward change order and final payment for the Wilmore Park playground (the mayor said the final cost was $31,82.50 lower than anticipated); authorized a shared-service agreement with Cedar Grove for fire subcode and inspection services; granted municipal consent for a PSEG treatment-works (TWWA) underground connection route through Little Falls; and awarded a professional-services contract to Trinosa for ongoing IT services.
The clerk called the roll on the consent motions and the ordinance adoptions; segments of the roll-call show Councilmember Patel, Councilmember Murphy and Council President Scoba recorded as voting yes. The transcript does not include an audible record of every individual councilmember's verbal response for each roll-call item; the clerk and council confirmed the motions carried.
Because the public hearings drew no speakers, the ordinances move forward as adopted and become part of the township code per the procedures followed at the meeting. The mayor said the PSEG route will run underground across town from near the recreation center, under the Passaic River, through Wilmore and toward Cedar Grove, and that the municipal consent is for the treatment-works approval associated with that project.
