"I have houses there because this is still home," Arms said, describing long ties to the area and saying he had helped the applicant secure neighborhood support letters.
The applicant (referred to as Paul in testimony) said he had spoken with neighbors and that they supported the project; he added the goal was to remove clutter from driveways and enhance the property. Board members asked technical questions about an existing fence and a wooden gate; the applicant confirmed the front gate/fence would be removed and the yard would be enclosed up to the new garage.
During deliberation, members said the proposal’s location, size and design would not unreasonably affect adjacent properties and could be an asset to the neighborhood. The board voted by roll call — Copeland, Nash and Forbes voted in the affirmative — and the variances were approved.
