A board member initially moved to cancel the June 17 meeting to give the ad hoc annual-report group more time to draft the final report; that motion failed in a roll-call vote (four No, three Yes). After discussion about what a June meeting might cover, a second motion to hold a June meeting and add agenda items to consider forming ad hoc groups passed on roll call, with one recorded abstention. The clerk conducted roll calls for both motions.
Board members who supported keeping a June meeting said a short business session would allow the panel to form subcommittees and set priorities for the remainder of the year. Members who favored cancellation cited the need for MPD and other presenters to have more time to prepare responses and noted standing items already scheduled for later months.
The chair confirmed that the ad-hoc creation item will be included on the June agenda. Staff also said that, if an item is desired for June, they can reach out to department directors to check availability.
The meeting record shows the board subsequently moved on to other business, including receipt of the independent police auditor's annual report and presentations on behavioral-health partnerships.
