De Park Consulting told the Penncrest School District board they have completed initial building walkthroughs and document collection and have begun operational and academic reviews as part of a districtwide assessment.
What consultants said: Chris Smer (president of De Park Consulting) summarized the May site visits and said the firm will do operational reviews and data collection through June–August, with analysis and a full report and planning document due in September–October. Sus, who is leading the academic review, said the team collected perceptual data, reporting "a total of 360 student responses" to an early survey. Consultants said they will follow with staff and community surveys and intend to return for follow-up site visits when schools are in session.
Scope and special education: Consultants told the board special education will be addressed within the academic review and the district’s operational audit (including transportation and fiscal/service-delivery implications). They said a deeper, standalone special-education audit would require expanding the engagement to include more in-depth review of early-intervention, MTSS, referral and compliance systems.
Next steps: Consultants will continue document analysis over the summer, conduct staff and community surveys, and present preliminary findings in the fall, followed by a final report and planning document to guide district decisions.
