The board approved an overnight field trip to Fort Jackson for JROTC students after a presentation by Master Sergeant Callaway and CSM Connor.
Presenters said the trip is an annual leadership camp (JCLC) that this year would include roughly four district students. Activities described included drown‑proofing exercises, a high‑ropes course and daily training activities that run from early morning until the evening, with graduation scheduled on June 11. Callaway and Connor explained they had identified chaperones and transportation and requested approval to proceed; they noted one student had withdrawn and that transportation back after graduation may require additional arrangements.
Board members moved and unanimously approved the overnight trip but asked staff to return if transportation needs required board‑level decisions. The administration said it would follow up on any outstanding logistics with parents and staff.
