Board recognizes Odyssey of the Mind teams for national competition

Board members recognized two Odyssey of the Mind teams that placed at state and competed at nationals; coach Miss Boyer said teams placed about 24th and 26th at Iowa State University.
At the June 11 meeting the Lake Board of Education recognized student participants in Odyssey of the Mind who placed first at the state tournament and advanced to national finals at Iowa State University.
Coach Miss Boyer told the board two district teams placed roughly 24th and 26th at nationals, competing against teams from around the world including Poland, China, Japan and Korea. She described the experience of traveling and competing in dorms and praised students for their performance. A student, Hannah Henson, was briefly recognized by name and the board applauded the teams.
The board encouraged parent support for fundraisers and thanked coaches and staff for their work.
Next steps: No formal action was required; recognitions were ceremonial.
