Dodge County awards bridge rehab contract, accepts road gravel bids and hears highway update

At its June 10 meeting the Dodge County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a contract with JMN Construction LLC for Project C‑27, the County Road 2 bridge rehabilitation, and authorized the necessary signatures on the agreement.
The Board also accepted bids opened June 2 for 2026‑2027 road gravel and authorized the Highway Department to use the lowest bid where applicable.
Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert told the Board that culvert installations are underway and that Project 666 (County Road F to C Blvd) will begin next week. Huppert said he is arranging for Proseal Inc. to demonstrate an asphalt rejuvenator product in July or August on County Road 8. "This product is a spray on clear coat that seals the asphalt and protects it from moisture intrusion; paint striping will not be compromised by this product," Huppert reported. He added that Straight‑Line Striping has completed traffic striping countywide, the Morningside improvements and a railroad crossing project are in environmental engineering, and the State Department of Roads has requested work related to replacing a box culvert on Highway 30 that would be out of county jurisdiction. Bridge approach work on County Road 8 will require a temporary road closure. One of two new road graders has been delivered and the other will arrive after equipment is added.
The Board entered closed session at 9:55 a.m. to discuss general assistance claims and returned to open session at 10:07 a.m.; no action was taken on the claims.
Next steps: the highway department will schedule the Proseal demonstration and return with results and cost estimates; contract paperwork for Project C‑27 will be executed.
