The Decatur Public School District 61 Board of Education approved multiple personnel appointments, contracts and program renewals at its June 9 meeting, including a wage-scale agreement with the Service Employees International Union Local No. 73, two school-administration hires, several curriculum and software renewals, and a personnel termination.
Terminations and personnel: The board voted to terminate administrative support employee Natasha Hamilton effective June 10, 2026. The motion carried with five votes in favor, zero opposed, one abstention and one absent. The board also approved a set of personnel action items submitted by Monica Wilks, director of human resources, and appointed Thomas Osborne as treasurer over district, special education, student activity and fiduciary funds effective July 1, 2026. The board approved the employment of Dr. Nicole Corey Mson as assistant superintendent of teaching and learning and of Jessica Mayor as an assistant principal at Eisenhower High School; both employment motions passed by recorded voice vote (six yes, zero nay, one absent).
Labor agreement: By voice vote the board approved a July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029 wage-scale agreement with Service Employees International Union Local No. 73 covering the Maintenance B team.
Programs, contracts and renewals: The board passed the consent agenda (including May 26 minutes, a Freedom of Information report and annual renewal agreements) and separately approved renewals for Read 180 and Math 180, the Seven Mindsets program, renewal of CrowdStrike services and Microsoft licensing, and the repaving of a parking lot for the district’s special education learning academy (old Harris building off Garfield).
