At its May 27 meeting the Medford Lakes Borough Council approved a slate of largely routine resolutions.
Grant application: Council approved Resolution 48‑26 authorizing submission of an electronic grant application (MA‑2027‑Kenozha Trail Roadway Improvements‑00092) to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for Kenozha Trail roadway improvements. Manager Burton said the grant will be used to fix a deteriorating section of roadway behind the school that needs attention.
Tax exemptions: Council passed Resolution 49‑26 to grant a 100% disabled‑veteran tax exemption under N.J.S.A. 54:4‑3.30 et seq. to Jennifer Leone, effective May 14, 2026. The council also passed Resolution 50‑26 granting a 100% disabled‑veteran tax exemption under the same statute to Mr. Matthew Ryan Bailey, effective May 7, 2026. The transcript records that Councilman Matthew R. Bailey was present and voted on council business that evening; the transcript does not state whether the applicant named in Resolution 50‑26 is the council member, so the record here reports only the names as they appear in the resolution.
Refund of handgun fee: Resolution 51‑26 authorizes the Chief Financial Officer to refund $100 to a resident who paid a municipal application fee for a handgun carry permit on March 26, 2026, consistent with prior Resolution 125‑25 and the statutory fee structure under N.J.S.A. 2C:58‑4.
Liquor license renewal: Council approved Resolution 52‑26 renewing a plenary retail consumption alcoholic beverage license for Medford Lakes Enterprises LLC, d/b/a P.J. Whelihan’s Pub (61 Stokes Road). The license will be effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, contingent on payment of required fees; the police department told council there had been no problems associated with the license.
Each resolution carried in roll‑call votes recorded at the meeting with one council member absent. The approvals are recorded in the meeting minutes and the associated paperwork will be executed by the mayor and clerk or processed by the CFO as required by the resolutions.
