The Paducah Board of Commissioners on June 9 approved municipal orders declaring two properties on Jones Street surplus and accepting bids that staff said will help spur redevelopment on the south side.
The first order declared 718 Jones Street surplus and accepted a $100 bid from Sheila Kirkandall of Teddy Bear Development for conveyance and future redevelopment. Staff said the property is a ~1,100-square-foot two-bedroom, two-bath home and that the city hopes developers will use incentives to create density on that block.
The second municipal order declared 709 Jones Street surplus and accepted a $1 bid from John B. Ventismar by Fly by Knight Incorporated. Commissioners discussed city incentives and said they are encouraged to see developers taking on projects on the south side.
Both orders passed by roll call vote with all commissioners voting in the affirmative.
