The Mount Lebanon Commission on June 9 approved a three-year lease with Sinitech Solutions for six Husqvarna 580 autonomous mowers for use at the municipal golf course, at a total three-year cost of $71,280 and an annual lease cost of $23,760.
Vice President Flint said the course had used a single autonomous mower as an introductory program over the last two years and staff noted benefits including quieter operation and consistent cutting. "These mowers provide a quiet, consistent cut and can mow in almost any weather conditions 24 hours per day," the presentation said.
Rapid changes in technology made leasing more appealing than purchasing, the presentation said, and the three-year lease provides the lowest annual cost. The commission approved the lease by voice vote; the record shows the motion was seconded and the chair declared the motion carried. Officials said the first year is covered in the 2026 budget and funding for years two and three will need approval in the 2027 and 2028 budgets.
