Clayton County supervisors award courthouse step contracts, approve claims and personnel pay certification

The Clayton County Board of Supervisors met June 3 in Elkader and unanimously approved a package of routine and procurement actions, including awarding contracts to remove and replace the courthouse steps and certifying a deputy treasurer’s wage.
Supervisor Doug Reimer moved to reopen the courthouse-step item and, after bids were read, to award the removal contract to Ethan Koehn Construction, LLC for $3,000 and the replacement contract to Reinhart Renovations for $12,629.84 to install composite decking. Supervisor Steve Doeppke seconded both motions; the votes were recorded as ayes from Doeppke, Ray Peterson and Reimer and the motions carried.
The board also approved claims presented at the meeting totaling $98,812.44. The motion to approve claims was moved by Supervisor Steve Doeppke and seconded by Supervisor Doug Reimer; the vote was unanimous.
Supervisors authorized release of retainage as final payment of $10,053.50 for the Elkader Secondary Roads Shop Addition. The motion passed with unanimous support.
In personnel business, the board certified the wage for Sarah Fenton as Deputy Treasurer/Driver’s License Examiner at 66% of the Treasurer’s wage, effective June 1, 2026. The motion to approve the wage certification was moved by Supervisor Steve Doeppke and seconded by Supervisor Doug Reimer and carried unanimously.
The meeting record was signed by Ray Peterson, Board of Supervisors Chair, and attested by Amanda Sargent, Clayton County Deputy Auditor. No additional discussion, public testimony, or dissenting votes were recorded in the minutes.
