District opens public comment on math, science, computer science and arts curricula; staff brief board on new K–12 literacy law

Associate Superintendent Amy Rose and Executive Director Nicole Rap briefed trustees on language and literacy changes tied to state law. "Senate File 59, which is effective July 1, 2026, moves Wyoming from a primarily early literacy K–3 model to a comprehensive K–12 'science of reading' literacy and language framework," Rose said, listing new screening, parent‑communication and district‑reporting requirements. Trustees encouraged families and media to review the curricular proposals online and submit comments before the June 30 deadline. The board treated the proposals as first readings; no adoption votes were taken at this meeting. The district plans continued validation and resource-selection through the 2026–27 school year.
Members of the public can review materials and submit feedback on the Natrona County School District #1 website through June 30; trustees indicated there will be an additional reading in July before any final board action.
