Plaquemines council approves resolution authorizing community blood donation efforts for U.S. semiquincentennial

The Plaquemines Parish Council on June 11 unanimously approved a resolution authorizing community blood donation efforts to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Susie Potter, community development manager for the Blood Center, told the council the blood supply stood at roughly 25 percent and urged the parish to help promote a community drive. Potter said the campaign slogan will be “Honor the Past, Help the Future” and described recognition items for donors and outreach steps for hurricane season.
Potter asked the parish president’s office and individual council members to help promote and sponsor the event; council members offered logistical coordination and asked her to work with the parish administration to set dates and locations. The council recorded the resolution as passed during the meeting.
The resolution is intended to support a Parish-coordinated blood-drive schedule and public outreach; Potter offered to coordinate with the parish president’s office and thanked the council for passage.
