Des Moines County supervisors voted to accept the county’s canvas of a school primary and recorded which candidates will advance to the November ballot. Staff reported 15,181 registered voters and 1,263 ballots cast, an 8.32% turnout; total votes in the contest were 3,384. According to the published summary, the top six moving on are John Phillips; John D. Bilips (660 votes); Antonio Net Wilson (455); Antonio Bailey (383); Robert Ker (383); Jerry Johnson (369); and Jerry Kemp (336).
The chair called for a motion to accept the canvas and the board confirmed a motion and second. Tom Broker and Jim Carrick were recorded as saying “yes” during acknowledgements. A member named Shane was not present when the board moved on.
