Parks committee accepts $16,000 Rosen Family Foundation grant for 2026 summer parks program

The Green Bay Parks Committee on June 10 voted to accept a $16,000 grant from the Rosen Family Foundation to support the city’s 2026 summer parks program.

Megan, a recreation supervisor with the parks department, told the committee the grant request grew from outreach to local businesses and program alumni and was aimed at offsetting site costs across the department’s 16 program locations. "My ask was just smaller, but it was just I want to provide at least $1,000 to all 16 of our sites ... to offset some costs ... and give our leaders some money where they can really offer the best summer ever to the kids in Green Bay," Megan said.

Megan said this is the first year the parks program has received direct private funding of this type and that staff hope the Rosen Family Foundation’s gift will become an annual partnership. When a committee member asked whether funds could be used for prizes at the Kitty Carnival, Megan confirmed the money could be applied to that event as part of enhancing the 10-week program.

A motion to accept the grant was moved and seconded; the committee approved it on a voice vote and the chair declared the motion carried. Committee members did not record individual roll-call votes in the transcript. Items approved by the committee will be forwarded to the City Council for final approval at its June 16 meeting, per staff comments.

If Council approves, the $16,000 would approximate $1,000 for each of the 16 program sites, to be used for program enhancements and event expenses. The parks department said staff are hopeful the award will be renewed in future years and thanked the Rosen family and local partners for facilitating the donation.
