Committee members emphasized retaining language that alternatives exist and agreed to the staff-recommended edit.
On Proposed Policy 3310.02 (Naming of Facilities), the committee agreed to change the phrasing from 'The Board may' to 'The Board will' and to add that the superintendent or a designee may recommend names for Board approval. Committee members also agreed the policy would apply going forward and not retroactively.
The committee agreed to send Proposed Policy 3310.01 (Memorials & Retirement Commemorations) to the full Board for a first reading. The committee also tasked Eickholt with drafting a policy for how policies will be reviewed (1000 series), with a target to begin reviews in August and complete by year-end.
