Victor board honors student artists, DECA competitors and newly tenured staff

The Victor Central School District Board of Education used its final meeting of the school year to recognize student achievement across the district and honor newly tenured staff.
Sean Duckworth, senior high art teacher and district visual-arts leader, presented five student works selected for the district’s permanent collection and invited each student to the front of the boardroom. Duckworth described the pieces and the students’ dedication: first-grader Delaney’s mixed-media painting; third-grader Kieran’s observational paintbrush drawing; fifth-grader John Carlo’s oil-pastel work; eighth-grader Matthew’s colored-pencil snake; and Sophia’s digitally refracted-clock photograph.
The board also honored 11 Victor DECA students who competed at the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta. DECA advisor Sue Uts told the board that all 11 Victor competitors earned DECA’s award for excellence this year; senior Asha Ramen earned both a blue medallion and a silver medallion in her events. The presenter named student competitors including Juliana Malone, Jack Trombley, Garrett Fay, Eveina Soalowski, Emily Miller, Canyon Shaw, Kate Jablonsky, Charlotte Johnson and Asha Ramen among others.
Superintendent Dr. Terteranova recognized 40 staff members who earned tenure this year and praised the community’s support after the district budget passed by a 73% margin in May. "The respect our residents have for the work that our staff does with their children on a daily basis is the single most important factor when people head to the polls for school budgets," Terteranova said in the meeting.
Principals across buildings summarized end-of-year assessments, field-day plans, music and theater announcements and district partnerships. Rob D. Rose (Victor Early Childhood School), Amanda Burn (primary school), Jim Marorrow (intermediate), Brian G (junior high) and Brian Siesto (senior high) reported school-level celebrations, curriculum projects, and community partnerships including the Suzuki strings program and local volunteer supports. Student representative Aiden Kela offered student-focused updates and best wishes to teams competing for state titles.
The board also thanked PTSA volunteers and recognized staff and community partners for their contributions. Graduation is scheduled for Monday, June 22 at ESL Ballpark, the board noted in closing remarks.
No formal actions were taken on these recognition items beyond public commendation.
