Aquinas Academy chapel expansion application tabled after questions on demolition and NPDES permit

The Hampton Township Planning Commission on May 11 tabled a minor land development application from Aquinas Academy to extend the chapel at 2308 West Hardies Road (application 26-07) after the applicant requested more time for township review. Peter Blume, representing Aquinas Academy, said revised plans were submitted only a week earlier and township reviewers had not had sufficient time to provide comments.
Blume said there were no significant design changes but that stormwater management work remained ongoing. He asked whether demolition could begin before formal approval; Aaron Blackwell, the township's Land Use Administrator, said staff could meet the next day to discuss the scope of work and whether limited interior work could begin before full approval. Blume also asked whether the commission could approve before an NPDES permit was obtained; Commissioner Venture said the commission could make the NPDES permit a condition of approval.
Mr. Venture moved to table application 26-07 at the applicant's request; Mr. Nugent seconded. The motion carried unanimously with six members present. The action preserves township review and allows staff to clarify stormwater and demolition scope before the application returns to a future meeting.
