MILLS COUNTY — County election staff reported that the post-election hand-count audit matched the tabulated results for the offices audited and that the required paperwork has been filed with the secretary of state's office.
"We audited both the Republican and the Democrat ballots and we did match up," the elections official said, reporting that the randomly selected precinct audit included U.S. Senate and state auditor races and that the results aligned with the canvass.
Supervisors then signed the election summary and approved the candidates nominated in the primary; the board also approved shredding the 2024 primary voted materials that are past the 22-month retention period. "We have them for 22 months," the elections official said, and the motion to shred carried by voice vote (tally not specified).
The official noted a higher absentee turnout in this election than in recent cycles and said a small number of voters required provisional ballots, which were accepted by the provisional board.
