Middletown committee adopts 2026 municipal budget, approves package of ordinances

MIDDLETOWN — The Township Committee adopted the 2026 municipal operating budget and approved a string of ordinances during its June 8 meeting, voting unanimously on each measure after no members of the public came forward to comment.
The committee voted to adopt Resolution 26-132, approving the 2026 municipal operating budget, after Mayor Perry opened the public hearing and reported no speakers. The committee also unanimously adopted Resolution 26-154, authorizing a self-examination of the township’s budget.
In a consent-style package, the committee approved ordinances that were carried on second and final reading: Ordinance 2026-3505 (a new lease with the nonprofit Middletown Art Center), Ordinance 2026-3506 (to repeal and replace township code chapters governing filming and film permitting fees), Ordinance 2026-3510 (authorizing sale of certain township-owned properties not required for public purposes), Ordinance 2026-3511 (prohibiting trucks over four tons on Caldwell Avenue and Claremont Avenue), Ordinance 2026-3512 (establishing a fee for police youth week participants) and Ordinance 2026-3513 (authorizing execution of certain deeds with Mammoth Hills). Committee members indicated the arts council had approved the lease for the Art Center before the vote.
