The Napa Valley Unified School District Board of Education confirmed the appointment of Troy Giddings as principal of Canyon Oaks Elementary School for the 2026–27 school year.
Troy Giddings addressed the board after the appointment, thanking President Lisa Chu, trustees and his family. "I will serve with great care, respect, and thoughtfulness," he said, adding that the Canyon Oaks community, staff and board expect leadership that supports an "enriching, inclusive, safe, caring and equitable environment in which to learn." He emphasized collaboration with teachers, staff and families to ensure students have "every opportunity to thrive."
The appointment was made during the closed-session personnel actions and reported in open session with the formal roll-call vote recorded as 'yes' by all trustees. The board later invited Giddings to lead the Pledge of Allegiance as part of the meeting's ceremonial items.
