Rothschild board keeps voucher process, approves recycling drive, e‑bike discussion, fundraising and a $250 vaccination grant

At its Feb. 23 meeting the Village of Rothschild board addressed several operational and community items, voting to keep current accounts-payable voucher procedures, authorize community programs and continue intergovernmental ordinance discussions.
Trustee Louella Luedtke asked that vouchers be emailed to trustees for review before meetings; Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle explained existing practices and said vouchers are available to trustees at any time. The board voted 6–1 to retain the current voucher process, with Luedtke recorded as the lone no vote.
The board approved an electronics recycling drive for May 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., to be run by PC Computer Recycling and opened to Rothschild, Weston and Schofield residents and Town of Weston residents. Village staff said the contractor requested later hours to accommodate residents.
Trustees authorized the administrator to continue discussions with the Wausau Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Public Works and Police Chief Hunt on a draft Greater Wausau e-bike ordinance after local communities showed preference for municipal-specific rules rather than a single regional ordinance.
The board also approved beginning fundraising efforts for a Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan, a Pavilion Marketplace Plan and the Cedar Creek Recreation Area Plan following guidance from fundraising consultant Lindsey Lewitzke.
Finally, the board approved a $250 grant to the MBMPD Oversight Board to support a rabies vaccination clinic, with a directive to receive follow-up data; the motion passed 5–1 with Luedtke recorded as opposed.
The board handled these items by voice votes and directed staff to follow up with more detailed plans, vendor coordination and reporting where requested.
