The Village of Rothschild voted Feb. 23 to accept two utility easements tied to upcoming infrastructure projects.
Public Works Administrator Timothy Vergara described a permanent 20-foot watermain easement granted by Incredible Bank to enable the Village to loop the northern portion of the water system as part of the Volkman Street Project. The work is intended to prepare the system ahead of the WisDOT BUS HWY 51 reconstruction projected for 2030. Incredible Bank has executed the easement; the village will settle the easement for $1.00.
Separately, Vergara described a Wisconsin Public Service Corporation request for a 12-foot by 12-foot underground electric easement in Gaska Park to accommodate underground service work associated with the 2026 Military Road Reconstruction Project. The requested footprint is adjacent to the trail; Vergara said the area is staked, not currently in active use, and WPS will use the opportunity to add updated lines and redundancy.
Both easements were approved by unanimous votes. Village staff said final engineering will address trail adjacency, fire access, and coordination with other project timelines.
