At the May 19 meeting, town officials reminded residents that absentee ballots for municipal elections are available and explained the school budget validation process for RSU10. The board said the RSU10 meeting is scheduled for May 27 at Mountain Valley High School and will require in-person attendance in Rumford for residents who want to vote before validation.
Select Board member Judy criticized poor turnout at a recent RSU10 school budget meeting, saying fewer than a dozen attendees from area towns participated and that the meeting may not have been well publicized. "It was disappointing that more people weren't there," Judy said; a board member suggested the town ask the school to publicize meetings more effectively.
Town staff said they would check with RSU officials about whether the town can arrange transportation and will follow up on publicity concerns. The board also noted absentee ballots and the schedule for related municipal and committee meetings.
Next steps: town staff to contact RSU officials about bus/transportation options and to confirm publicity and ballot processes.
