Chief Bruce Dixon said the department responded to 37 calls in March, including two motor vehicle accidents and numerous emergency medical calls. He also noted routine budget purchase orders, and reported department participation in the Bolton Road Race (eight members) and the Polar Plunge (about 20 participants). Dixon said the Strategic Planning Committee has held multiple meetings with town stakeholders, the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department, mutual aid chiefs and the Board of Selectmen and has requested and provided extensive records for the study. He said the planning project's end date is "approximately 6 months."
Commissioners asked how the study's contractors will report progress. Commissioner Chris Moquin asked about the project end date and about potential cost savings; Elizabeth Malone asked whether interim progress reports would be provided. Dixon said he did not know whether the contractor would provide progress updates between major milestones.
Commissioner Robert Langton raised the town's Insurance Services Office protection-class rating, saying that moving the rating upward from its current class could reduce costs for local taxpayers and businesses if the town invests in improvements. The commission did not record any formal vote on investment or follow-up steps at this meeting.
